about

1. It's a repress / first-time vinyl pressing of a wicked CD released in Vancouver, Canada in 1993, it's a collective effort to highlight the sound of a persistent chillout-area dance music.

2. The people behind the recording were centered around Dreamdoktor/Dreamlogic & Erra, a Romanian duo, nowadays living in the countryside to the north of Bucharest

3. The sound of the record is an echo of the vibe of World, a small after hours club in Vancouver, that would give birth to a small group of devoted producers like Dreamlogic, Pilgrims of the Mind, Adham Shaikh, the late Phil Western who in turn were responsible for a handful of idiosyncratic records that became quite sought-after. This record is a time capsule of the head space the artists were in at the time.

4. Simultaneously, there's still some work to be done when it comes to electronic dance music dreamers and visionaries from Eastern Europe. Obviously, with some noteworthy exceptions, it's hard to poinpoint a consistent scene with a memorable musical output... and we're a bit forced to look for isolated cases like the work of Handraburs. Nonetheless, what releases like this can offer, is a perspective - the seclusion resulting from working outside of the standardized music circuit is not always a limitation - and Frequencies are coming out again to offer a certain hope and a promise - that we, club-dwelling Eastern Europeans, are not working in a vacuum.

Dedicated to the loving memory of Phillip C. Western
